Pastor Stephanie
In the world the future may look very bleak. For us believers, God said our future will be good.
The word good in hebrew is “Tov”
To be in harmony with God
To be agreeable with God
To be fit
When God created the seas, He said it was good in harmony with him
Genesis 1:31
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Genesis 2:18
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Help Meet - help to see clearly
The only time the word “tov” is used in relationship to man is in Gen 2:18 saying he was not good or in harmony with God
It does not mean he was sinful, just not in a state of perfect harmony with God
Having a free will separated man from perfect harmony
Ish = Man
ishah = Woman
Yah = Lord
“And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.””
Genesis 3:17-19 NLT
Struggling to scratch a living is a curse
God will lead us. We don’t have to struggle.
Numbers 10:29
Now Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place about which the LORD said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”
Numbers 10:32
If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us. ”
Whatever good things we will share with you. He is confident God will give them good things.
Judges 1:16
Now the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up from the City of Palms with the children of Judah into the Wilderness of Judah, which lies in the South near Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.
The hebrew word “Tov” (good) can be used as another word for “covenant” because at the heart of every solid and strong covenant, treaty or alliance (Berit) means trust
“Favour” “act of grace” is “Tova” same hebrew word for “good”
“Lord All-Powerful, you are God. You have promised me some very good things, and you can be trusted to do what you promise. Please bless my descendants and let them always be your chosen kings. You have already promised, and I'm sure that you will bless my family forever.”
2 Samuel 7:28-29 CEV
See the promises blessed based on promises of God
“For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through [observing the requirements of] the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. If those who are [followers] of the Law are [the true] heirs [of Abraham], then faith [leading to salvation] is of no effect and void, and the promise [of God] is nullified. For the Law results in [God’s] wrath [against sin], but where there is no law, there is no violation [of it either].”
Romans 4:13-15 AMP
Today in Christ we have both physical and spiritual
We are children of Abraham by faith
We are not alien from the Jews.
We can receive the good they have.
For us to enter in, we must BELIEVE
“Therefore, [inheriting] the promise depends entirely on faith [that is, confident trust in the unseen God], in order that it may be given as an act of grace [His unmerited favor and mercy], so that the promise will be [legally] guaranteed to all the descendants [of Abraham]—not only for those [Jewish believers] who keep the Law, but also for those [Gentile believers] who share the faith of Abraham, who is the [spiritual] father of us all—”
Romans 4:16 AMP
“(as it is written [in Scripture], “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the sight of Him in whom he believed, that is, God who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. In hope against hope Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “So [numberless] shall your descendants be.””
Romans 4:17-18 AMP
God will call those things that are not as though they were
Faith means i see God in this situation
We need faith to believe God can work beyond the hopelessness
“Against all odds, when it looked hopeless, Abraham believed the promise and expected God to fulfill it. He took God at his word, and as a result he became the father of many nations. God’s declaration over him came to pass: “Your descendants will be so many that they will be impossible to count!””
Romans 4:18 TPT
Believe in Him, expect Him and take God for His Word
He wants us to take Him at His Word and expecting Him to fulfil it. Keep on looking to Him.
The word Expect is expectation of good and hope.
Joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation
We wait and we expect God to fulfil
We have the joy of the Lord
Anticipate with pleasure
It is coming. Expectation of confident of good
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
Tik-vah
Hope
Cord attachment - expectation hope live thing that I long for
“I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord.”
Psalms 27:13-14 AMP
“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.”
1 Peter 1:3-5 MSG
When you live for Jesus, He takes care of us.
The day is coming when we have it all.
Your life is a journey.
“Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.”
1 Peter 1:18-21 MSG
It cause God plenty to get us out of the dead end.
It caused Him His Son
He will see to it when we believe Him. Jehovah Jireh
Let Jesus and God come out in the journey you travel.
He died like an unblemished sacrificial Lamb
“Look at how much encouragement you’ve found in your relationship with the Anointed One! You are filled to overflowing with his comforting love. You have experienced a deepening friendship with the Holy Spirit and have felt his tender affection and mercy. So I’m asking you, my friends, that you be joined together in perfect unity—with one heart, one passion, and united in one love. Walk together with one harmonious purpose and you will fill my heart with unbounded joy.”
Philippians 2:1-2 TPT
God has given you extra gifting
You don’t work for your salvation. You work out your salvation
Philippians 2:12-13
Do Everything Without Grumbling
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Our part is to let God works in us
“We look away from the natural realm and we focus our attention and expectation onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!”
Hebrews 12:2 TPT
““Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel: “They’ll rebuild their ruined cities. They’ll plant vineyards and drink good wine. They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables. And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land. They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them.” God, your God, says so.”
Amos 9:13-15 MSG
Dare to believe and trust God
