GOD and HIS CHILDREN LAUGHS - [Sermon Note]

Pastor Deborah

WHY and WHEN do PEOPLE LAUGH???

Found Love

Have a family

Found Money

The money that God blessed us, He wants to give us something to make us happy.

When money is no more there, the joy is also not there.

God is not against love, family and money.

He created us to have a family and He is the source of love.

He wants us to be fruitful and multiply.

The Laughter of Unbelief

LUKE 8:52-53 TPT

Jesus told those left outside, who were sobbing and wailing with grief, “Stop crying.

She is not dead; she’s just asleep and must be awakened.”

They laughed at him, knowing for certain that she had died.

The Laughter of a Fool

ECCLESIASTES 7:6 NLTt

A fool’s laughter is quickly gone, like thorns crackling in a fire. This also is meaningless.

PROVERBS 14:13 TPT

Superficial laughter can hide a heavy heart, but when the laughter ends, the pain resurfaces.

  1. DOES GOD LAUGH?

An example of God’s humor is the instance in which the Israelites were using the Ark of the Covenant like a good-luck charm in taking it to battle, and the Philistines ended up capturing it and placing it in their temple before their idol of Dagon.

They came into the temple the next day and found Dagon flat on his face before the ark. They set him back up.

The next morning, there he was again, but this time he had his hands and head cut off as a symbol of his powerlessness before the God of the ark (1 Samuel 5:1-5).

God’s putting Dagon in a position of submission to His ark is a comical picture.

This incident is an example of GOD LAUGHING at the foolishness of those who would oppose Him.

PSALMS 59:7-8 NLT

Listen to the filth that comes from their mouths; their words cut like swords.

“After all, who can hear us?” they sneer.

But Lord, you LAUGH at them.

You scoff at all the hostile nations.

PSALMS 59:8 TPT

But YOU, LORD, break out LAUGHING at their plans, AMUSED by their arrogance, scoffing at their sinful ways.

Psalm 2 also reveals God laughing at those who would rebel against His kingship.

PSALMS 2:4 TPT

God-Enthroned merely LAUGHS at them; the Sovereign One mocks their madness!

PSALMS 2:4 CEB

The ONE who rules in heaven LAUGHS; my LORD MAKES FUN of them.

Heaven-throned GOD breaks out LAUGHING. (MSG)

It is like the comical picture of a kindergarten-aged child being upset at his parents and running away from home...all the way to his neighbour’s house.

But there is obviously a serious side to this as well, and although the picture of weak and silly man trying to match wits with an almighty and all-knowing GOD is COMICAL,

God takes no delight in their waywardness and its consequences but rather desires to see them turn around (Ezekiel 33:11; Matthew 23:37-38).

God is justice and will punish sin but yet He is love.

God is comical but there is a time where He is serious as well.

A person does not crack jokes in the presence of one who has just lost a close loved one; silly jokes are out of place on such occasions.

In the same way, God is focused on the lost and is looking for those who will care for their souls as He does.

That is why our lives (while having times of refreshing and humour) are to be characterised by “soberness” (seriousness about making our lives count for Christ) (1 Thessalonians 5:6,8; Titus 2:2,6)

Humour and laughter is refreshing.

Scientifically, when a human laugh, some form of hormones are released in the system and it can cure sicknesses.

PSALMS 37:13 TPT

God laughs at the wicked and their plans, for he knows their day is coming!

H7832 שׂחק śâchaq

Phonetic: saw-khak'

to laugh, play, mock, jest

to play (including instrumental music, singing, dancing)

Strong's Definition:

to laugh (in pleasure or detraction);

to play:- deride, have in derision, laugh, make merry, mock (-er), play, rejoice, (laugh to) scorn, be in (make) sport.

2.   DOES GOD'S CHILDREN LAUGH?

We always laugh for a reason.

God laughs because He is in control of everything.

When we have God with us, we can laugh in days of calamities.

Money is not the source of our joy.

GENESIS 1:27 AMP

So God created man in HIS OWN IMAGE צלם, in the IMAGE and LIKENESS of GOD He created him; male and female He created them.

IMAGE -

a representation of the external form of a person or thing in art.

synonyms: likeness, resemblance, depiction, portrayal, representation, statue, statuette, sculpture, bust, effigy, figure, figurine, doll, carving, painting, picture, portrait, drawing, sketch, artist's impression

GENESIS 17: 17-18 AMP

Then Abraham fell on his face and LAUGHED, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael [my firstborn] might live before You!”

GENESIS 17: 19 AMP

But GOD said, “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed, and you shall name him ISAAC (LAUGHTER); and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him.

GENESIS 21:5-6 MSG

Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born. Sarah said, God has BLESSED me with LAUGHTER and all who get the news will LAUGH WITH ME!

GENESIS 21:6 AMP

Sarah said, “God has made me laugh; all who hear [about our good news] will laugh with me.”

Laughter is a blessing.

A person who is able to laugh is blessed.

Laughter brings in all the blessings.

Abrahamic blessings starts with laughter.

Laughter and joy is the will of God.

JOB 8:21 NLT

He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

PSALMS 30:11 CEB

You changed my mourning into dancing.

You took off my funeral clothes and dressed me up in joy.

ISAIAH 61:3 CEB

to provide for Zion’s mourners,

to give them a crown in place of ashes,

oil of joy in place of mourning,

a mantle of praise in place of discouragement.

They will be called Oaks of Righteousness,

planted by the LORD to glorify himself.

PSALMS 126:2 CEB

Our mouths were suddenly filled with laughter; our tongues were filled with joyful shouts.

It was even said, at that time, among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them!”

WHY are Many of GOD'S CHILDREN unable to LAUGH??

FEAR  of not Good Enough

> Fear of what people think of you

> fear of rejection

- very self conscious

- easily offended, easily hurt

God sees us as good enough, more than good enough.

ROMANS 8:15 TPT

And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the FEAR of NEVER BEING GOOD ENOUGH.

But you have received the “SPIRIT of FULL ACCEPTANCE,” enfolding you into the family of God.

And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!”

We have been acquitted.

No longer faced the wrath of God.

Judgement has been removed through Jesus.

LAUGHING IN THE SPIRIT

For those of you who have never had this manifestation occur – it is simply either God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit laughing through your spirit.

Maturity is the fruit.

When the fruits grow, it shows whether the person is matured or not.

It is GOD literally LAUGHING through the HOLY SPIRIT, who is already living on the inside of your human spirit.

It is God’s laughter when it occurs, it is not your laughter.

When it manifests, it will bubble and erupt right out of your belly area.

JOHN 7:38 KJV

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

How do you know when it is God laughing through your spirit rather than your own natural laughter manifesting?

When it comes from God through the Holy Spirit, it is much more intense and powerful than your own natural laughter.

When it is coming direct from the Lord, you will literally be laughing as hard as you can for as long as it lasts.

It can last anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 or 15 minutes.

If it lasts up to 10-15 minutes, there is a good chance that your stomach muscles will be sore for a day or two following it due to the maximum intensity of the actual laughter itself.

Rejoice in the Lord always.

There is also an extreme amount of joy that will come with it when it does manifest.

It also feels much more fuller than our own laughter.

Another observation is the tone of it.

When it is the Holy Spirit, the laughter has a higher pitch to it than our own natural laughter does.

Our own normal laughter has a lower pitch or tone to it as versus when the laughter is coming in from the Holy Spirit.

It has absolutely no reason at all.

In this case, it's like GOD is simply RELEASING HIS JOY and LAUGHTER into the situation as if HE is SIMPLY ENJOYING

our company.

The other times it will manifest is when one of us says something

that seems to hit God’s funny bone.

When His laughter then manifests off a particular statement, it feels like we get a little bit of insight as to WHAT MAY MAKE GOD LAUGH.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:7 TPT

Let giving FLOW from your HEART, not from a sense of religious duty.

Let it spring up freely from the joy of giving—all because God loves HILARIOUS generosity!

hilaros - propitious or MERRY  ("HILARIOUS"), that is, PROMPT,  or WILLING:- CHEERFUL.

PROVERBS 17:22 TPT

A joyful, cheerful heart brings HEALING to both body and soul.

But the one whose heart is crushed struggles with sickness and depression.

Laughter and smile makes you look so much prettier!!

Don't need plastic surgery!

Its the BEST ANTI-AGING therapy.
