Sermon note
Pastor Stephanie
“He gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. His purpose was to equip God’s people for the work of serving and building up the body of Christ until we all reach the unity of faith and knowledge of God’s Son. God’s goal is for us to become mature adults—to be fully grown, measured by the standard of the fullness of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:11-13 CEB
Let your beauty be that of hidden man of the heart
Your spirit man is eternal and will last forever
When you got saved, your body did not change
God put in the church equipped trained for the work of serving
Serving and building up the body of Christ
Jesus did not show the childish behaviours. He is mature
Each one of you have the potential to grow up to maturity
We want the anointing because we want the power to live the things like Jesus did.
Love people.
It is all about people connecting to God and then to the people.
God’s goal is for us to become MATURE ADULTS - to be fully grown, measured by the standard of the fullness of Christ
We want to listen to this Father who always love us
They can hear and they know what God is saying.
God said we are rich though we might be poor.
As we grow in the fullness of Christ
“As a result, we aren’t supposed to be infants any longer who can be tossed and blown around by every wind that comes from teaching with deceitful scheming and the tricks people play to deliberately mislead others.”
Ephesians 4:14 CEB
“Brothers and sisters, I don’t want you to be ignorant about spiritual gifts.”
1 Corinthians 12:1 CEB
“The same God distributes different kinds of miracles that accomplish different results through each believer’s gift and ministry as he energizes and activates them. Each believer is given continuous revelation by the Holy Spirit to benefit not just himself but all.”
1 Corinthians 12:6-7 TPT
“For example: The Spirit gives to one the gift of the word of wisdom. To another, the same Spirit gives the gift of the word of revelation knowledge. And to another, the same Spirit gives the gift of faith. And to another, the same Spirit gives gifts of healing. And to another the power to work miracles. And to another the gift of prophecy. And to another the gift to discern what the Spirit is speaking. And to another the gift of speaking different kinds of tongues. And to another the gift of interpretation of tongues.”
1 Corinthians 12:8-10 TPT
9 distinct spiritual gifts:
Word of Wisdom
word of knowledge
Gift of faith
Gift of healing
Working of miracles
Prophesy
Distinguishing between spirits
Speaking in tongues
Interpreting tongues
“Remember, it is the same Holy Spirit who distributes, activates, and operates these different gifts as he chooses for each believer.”
1 Corinthians 12:11 TPT
“Not everyone is an apostle or a prophet or a teacher. Not everyone performs miracles or has gifts of healing or speaks in tongues or interprets tongues. But you should all constantly boil over with passion in seeking the higher gifts. And now I will show you a superior way to live that is beyond comparison!”
1 Corinthians 12:29-31 TPT
“If I were to speak with eloquence in earth’s many languages, and in the heavenly tongues of angels, yet I didn’t express myself with love, my words would be reduced to the hollow sound of nothing more than a clanging cymbal. And if I were to have the gift of prophecy with a profound understanding of God’s hidden secrets, and if I possessed unending supernatural knowledge, and if I had the greatest gift of faith that could move mountains, but have never learned to love, then I am nothing.”
1 Corinthians 13:1-2 TPT
Love is agape
Prophetic gift is the person in the spirit can see images and things
The fire, water, wind, oil are not static. They are alive. They are flowing
A river flows. A lake is still
The words come it flows
Every believers can have it too. Holy Spirit are all flowing type
The gift and the working of the spirit is natural
We cannot operate the gift of the holy spirit on our own
Why do you want this gift ?
Encourage and bless another person
God has in His heart the person you are ministering to
Give to someone what you have received from the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit will flow. If it is not flowing, you not yet understand about the love
“It is good that you are enthusiastic and passionate about spiritual gifts, especially prophecy. When someone speaks in tongues, no one understands a word he says, because he’s not speaking to people, but to God—he is speaking intimate mysteries in the Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 14:1-2 TPT
Speaking in tongues is speaking intimate things to our Lover Jesus
“But when someone prophesies, he speaks to encourage people, to build them up, and to bring them comfort.”
1 Corinthians 14:3 TPT
Encourage and build people
Encourage people
Build them up
Bring them comfort
Jesus died for people
Will you be flame of fire who will love people the way Jesus loves them?
People are not easy
They come with all kind of character
When you minister and operate in the gift, it is like Jesus touching that person and speak
“Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 TPT
Nagging is a result of impatient
The fruit of the spirit is long suffering and patient
Many are still in the work of flesh
The Lord wants to develop our patient in our lives
“The one who speaks in tongues advances his own spiritual progress, while the one who prophesies builds up the church.”
1 Corinthians 14:4 TPT
Encourage build up and comfort
Love is the main ingredient
“I would be delighted if you all spoke in tongues, but I desire even more that you impart prophetic revelation to others. Greater gain comes through the one who prophesies than the one who speaks in tongues, unless there is interpretation so that it builds up the entire church.”
1 Corinthians 14:5 TPT
Words kill
Words can give life
Prophesy is about words
Desire to benefit others and encourage them
Love will always think the best of the other person
