Keeping your spiritual fire burning and not burnt out.
We as His new creation, His sons and daughters, we want His fire to keep burning.
“Ahab reported to Jezebel everything that Elijah had done, including the massacre of the prophets. Jezebel immediately sent a messenger to Elijah with her threat: “The gods will get you for this and I’ll get even with you! By this time tomorrow you’ll be as dead as any one of those prophets.””
1 Kings 19:1-2 MSG
She was evil queen
Prophet can be also be someone who claimed speaking on behalf of God
Elijah was a great prophet of God. He has just demonstrated how powerful Jehovah is. He challenged who is the real God.
If God is God, follow Him. Before action, is to trust Him.
Trust what He says and do what He says.
We see a great man of God, Elijah.
Elijah was scare of Jezebel, a woman. We have a great man of God who just called fire from heaven and yet he was scare of Jezebel.
He forgot who his God is and who he is. He was scare of this woman just because she threatened him.
When Elijah saw how things were, he run for dear life!
“When Elijah saw how things were, he ran for dear life to Beersheba, far in the south of Judah. He left his young servant there and then went on into the desert another day’s journey. He came to a lone broom bush and collapsed in its shade, wanting in the worst way to be done with it all—to just die: “Enough of this, God! Take my life—I’m ready to join my ancestors in the grave!” Exhausted, he fell asleep under the lone broom bush. Suddenly an angel shook him awake and said, “Get up and eat!””
1 Kings 19:3-5 MSG
When we are exhausted and tired, we feel like we want to die. Elijah forgot that God is bigger.
The body is exhausted
“He looked around and, to his surprise, right by his head were a loaf of bread baked on some coals and a jug of water. He ate the meal and went back to sleep.”
1 Kings 19:6 MSG
He ate the meal and went back to sleep.
“The angel of God came back, shook him awake again, and said, “Get up and eat some more—you’ve got a long journey ahead of you.””
1 Kings 19:7 MSG
“He got up, ate and drank his fill, and set out. Nourished by that meal, he walked forty days and nights, all the way to the mountain of God, to Horeb. When he got there, he crawled into a cave and went to sleep. Then the word of God came to him: “So Elijah, what are you doing here?””
1 Kings 19:8-9 MSG
We are spirit soul and body.
God was talking to him.
Somebody speaking. God talking.
““I’ve been working my heart out for the God-of-the-Angel-Armies,” said Elijah. “The people of Israel have abandoned your covenant, destroyed the places of worship, and murdered your prophets. I’m the only one left, and now they’re trying to kill me.””
1 Kings 19:10 MSG
“Then he was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by.” A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.”
1 Kings 19:11-12 MSG
God always tell Elijah, Go! Stand on the mountain at attention before God
Elijah is a miracle working prophet. Miracle means wonder working things that are supernatural.
After the fire, a gentle quiet whisper.
“When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak, went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. A quiet voice asked, “So Elijah, now tell me, what are you doing here?” Elijah said it again, “I’ve been working my heart out for God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, because the people of Israel have abandoned your covenant, destroyed your places of worship, and murdered your prophets. I’m the only one left, and now they’re trying to kill me.””
1 Kings 19:13-14 MSG
If you are not listening, you cannot hear.
God has to remove the distraction of life. Quiet down and let Him speak to you softly.
Do you want to hear "I am the Shepherd"
Heart to heart talk
“When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak, went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. A quiet voice asked, “So Elijah, now tell me, what are you doing here?” Elijah said it again, “I’ve been working my heart out for God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, because the people of Israel have abandoned your covenant, destroyed your places of worship, and murdered your prophets. I’m the only one left, and now they’re trying to kill me.””
1 Kings 19:13-14 MSG
God's wisdom is far above man's wisdom.
He tells us how to overcome but not focusing our problem.
God gave Elijah assignment.
“God said, “Go back the way you came through the desert to Damascus. When you get there anoint Hazael; make him king over Aram. Then anoint Jehu son of Nimshi; make him king over Israel. Finally, anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. Anyone who escapes death by Hazael will be killed by Jehu; and anyone who escapes death by Jehu will be killed by Elisha. Meanwhile, I’m preserving for myself seven thousand souls: the knees that haven’t bowed to the god Baal, the mouths that haven’t kissed his image.””
1 Kings 19:15-18 MSG
Anoint is empower. Jesus was anointed to do the ministry. Give other people the power to succeed
He is not the only one left.
“Elijah went straight out and found Elisha son of Shaphat in a field where there were twelve pairs of yoked oxen at work plowing; Elisha was in charge of the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak over him.”
1 Kings 19:19 MSG
We do the work not by our own strength but by appointment.
Are you tired? Christianity is not about religion.
Christianity is fellowship with God. We hear our Shepherd and He talks to us.
““Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.””
Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
Come to Me. Jesus said.
Jesus is calling out to people who are burnt out by religion.
Come to Me, Jesus. Go to Him.
Come under His banner and acknowledge Him. Come to Him and don't be burnt out. Get away with Me and recover your life.
Walk. Work. Walk and work. Watch how He does it. We are not going to do it our own.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
““Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.””
Matthew 11:28-30 TPT
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
We have come out on our own. We always join with Him. Learn My ways.

“Some individuals have wandered away from these things into empty arguments and useless discussions, wanting to be teachers of the Law [of Moses], even though they do not understand the terms they use or the subjects about which they make [such] confident declarations.”
