What the Law could not do, God did through Christ
ROMANS 8:1-2 MSG
With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved.
Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud.
A NEW POWER is IN OPERATION.
The SPIRIT of LIFE in CHRIST, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.
ROMANS 8:3 TPT
For GOD ACHIEVED what THE LAW was UNABLE to ACCOMPLISH,
• because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature.
Yet GOD sent us HIS SON in human form to IDENTIFY with HUMAN WEAKNESS.
Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could- ONCE and FOR ALL -
CONDEMN the GUILT and POWER of sin.
ROMANS 8:4 TPT
So NOW every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One LIVING his LIFE in us.
And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but BY the DYNAMIC POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT!
ROMANS 8:3 CEB
GOD HAS DONE what was impossible for the Law,
since it was weak because of selfishness.
God condemned sin in the body by sending his own Son to deal with sin in the same body as humans, who are controlled by sin.
ROMANS 8:4 CEB
He did this so that the righteous requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us.
NOW the WAY we LIVE is BASED on the SPIRIT, not based on selfishness.
WHY does a parent impose "law" on his/her children,
spouse etc?
WHAT is the PURPOSE of giving the law?
GALATIANS 3:15 EASY
My Christian friends, I will use an example from our lives.
Two people may make an agreement together and they both agree to it properly.
If they do that, nobody else can change that agreement.
They cannot take away its authority.
GALATIANS 3:16 EASY
In the same way, God PROMISED to bless Abraham and Abraham's descendant.
The Bible does not say ‘descendants’.
It does not speak about ‘many people’.
No, God PROMISED to bless Abraham's descendant.
He speaks about ONE PERSON, and THAT PERSON is CHRIST.
GALATIANS 3:17 EASY
What I mean is this: God made an agreement with Abraham. He PROMISED to bless him.
Then, 430 years later, God gave his Law to Moses for the Jewish people.
But that Law could not take away the authority of God's agreement with Abraham.
It could not stop what GOD HAD ALREADY PROMISED.
GALATIANS 3:18 CEB
If the inheritance were based upon the Law, it would no longer be from the promise.
But God has given it graciously to Abraham through a promise.
The law was given to help the children of Israel to be good before Jesus come.
Grace: Believe through Jesus we are blessed
GALATIANS 3:19 TPT
Why then was the law given at all?
It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins.
But the law was designed to last only UNTIL the coming of the “SEED,” the child who was promised.
When God gave the law, he gave it first to angels; they gave it to Moses, his mediator, who then gave it to the people.
GALATIANS 3:20 EASY
But GOD HIMSELF gave his PROMISE to ABRAHAM.
It was not necessary to have somebody in between,
like Moses.
GALATIANS 3:21 EASY
So should we say that God's Law works against God's promises?
No, certainly that is not true!
It is NOT possible for the RULES of any LAW to give us LIFE with GOD.
If that could happen, then God would have accepted us as right if we obeyed those rules.
GALATIANS 3:22 TPT
But the Scriptures make it clear that the whole world is IMPRISONED by SIN!
This was so the PROMISE would be given through FAITH to people who
BELIEVE in JESUS CHRIST.
We don't have freedom
Our freedom is freedom from sin, that we are able to be ourselves. we are secure and not scare someone will leave us
GALATIANS 3:23 TPT
So until the revelation of FAITH for salvation was released,
the law was a JAILER,
holding us as PRISONERS under lock and key until the “FAITH,”
which was destined to be revealed, would SET us FREE.
GALATIANS 3:23 EASY
But before God showed us the way of faith, the Law had authority over us.
God's Law kept us safe, until God showed us that we must believe in Christ.
He removed the law, therefore we can be free
GALATIANS 3:24 TPT
The law was our GUARDIAN until Christ came so that we would be saved by FAITH.
GALATIANS 3:24 AMPC
So that the Law served [to us Jews] as our trainer [our guardian, our guide TO CHRIST, to lead us] UNTIL CHRIST [CAME], that we might be justified (declared righteous, put in right standing with God) by and through FAITH.
The law was given to lead and guide them until Christ came
GALATIANS 3:25 EASY
But NOW that the WAY of FAITH in CHRIST has come, we DO NOT NEED God's Law to keep us safe any longer.
GALATIANS 3:25 AMPC
But now that the faith has come, we are no longer under a trainer (the guardian of our childhood).
GALATIANS 3:26 EASY
All of you are God's children because you BELIEVE in
Christ Jesus.
GALATIANS 3:27 EASY
They baptized you as believers in Christ.
That means that you have put on Christ, like someone who puts on new clothes.
GALATIANS 3:28 EASY
It does not matter whether you are a Jew or a Gentile.
It does not matter whether you are a slave or a free person.
It does not matter whether you are a man or a woman.
You all belong together because you all belong to Christ Jesus.
GALATIANS 3:29 EASY
And if you belong to Christ, then you are descendants of Abraham.
Because of that, you will receive all the good things that God promised to Abraham.
GALATIANS 3:29 AMPC
And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham's Seed], then you are Abraham's offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.
In Christ i am healed
in Christ i am rich
In Christ I am favoured
GALATIANS 3:21-22 MSG
If such is the case, is the law, then, an anti-promise, a negation of God’s will for us?
Not at all.
Its purpose was to make obvious to everyone that we are, in ourselves, out of right relationship with God, and therefore to show us the futility of devising some religious system for getting by our own efforts what we can only get by waiting in faith for God to complete his promise.
For if any kind of rule-keeping had POWER to CREATE LIFE in us, we would certainly have gotten it by this time.
GALATIANS 3:23-24 MSG
Until the time when we were MATURE ENOUGH to respond freely IN FAITH to the living God, we were carefully surrounded and protected by the Mosaic law.
The law was like those Greek TUTORS, with which you are familiar, who escort children to school and protect them from danger or distraction, making sure the children will really get to the place they set out for.
GALATIANS 3:25-27 MSG
But NOW you HAVE ARRIVED at your DESTINATION:
By FAITH in CHRIST you ARE in DIRECT RELATIONSHIP with GOD.
Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start.
It also involved dressing you in an ADULT FAITH WARDROBE—CHRIST’S LIFE,
• the fulfillment of God’s original PROMISE.
GALATIANS 3:28-29 MSG
In Christ’s family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew,
slave and free, male and female.
Among us you are all equal.
That is, WE are ALL in a COMMON relationship with JESUS CHRIST.
Also, since you are CHRIST’S FAMILY, then you are Abraham’s famous “descendant,” HEIRS according to the COVENANT PROMISES.
JOHN 11:38 CEB
Jesus was deeply disturbed again when he came to the tomb.
It was a cave, and a stone covered the entrance.
JOHN 11:39 CEB
Jesus said, “REMOVE the STONE.”
Martha, the sister of the dead man, said, “Lord, the smell will be awful!
He’s been dead four days.”
JOHN 11:40 CEB
Jesus replied, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe,
you will see God’s glory?”
JOHN 11:41 CEB
So they REMOVED the STONE.
Jesus looked up and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me.
JOHN 11:42-44 CEB
I know you always hear me.
I say this for the benefit of the crowd standing here so that they will believe that you sent me.”
Having said this, JESUS shouted with a loud VOICE, “Lazarus, COME OUT! ”
The dead man came out, his feet bound and his hands tied, and his face covered with a cloth.
Jesus said to them, “Untie him and let him go.”
WHEN the law is removed, you can hear Jesus!
