Pastor Deborah
The tongue is a person receive message from God
The gift of tongues is a message you don't understand
When the pastor is preaching, the holy spirit is talking through the pastor. Can He be also disturbing Himself with another person standing on the congregation to say there is a message from God? It will be very messy
Praying through God. From God, you receive the message through the people.
ROMANS 12:1 EASY
My Christian friends, God has been very kind to us.
Because of that, I really want you to serve God with your whole life.
Offer your bodies to him like a sacrifice that continues to live. Serve him with everything that you have and that will please him.
That is the true way to worship God.
Gifts' purpose is to encourage other people
Not to become proud or for us to boost
The fruit of the spirit is the measure of your maturity
We need to offer all our 5 senses to the Lord.
ROMANS 12:2 EASY
Do not become like the people who belong to this world.
But LET GOD COMPLETELY CHANGE the WAY that you THINK,
SO THAT you LIVE DIFFERENTLY
Then you will understand what God wants you to do.
You will know what is good.
You will know what pleases God.
You will know what is completely right.
Believe in Him, not in ourselves
Instead of believing in ourselves, believe in Christ. I can do all things through Him
Faith in God means everyday i don't worry because we know God will take care of me today!
Live everyday believing in Me
Simple faith
God is kind to me so that i can serve Him
Serve Him not out of our own ability and strength
ROMANS 12:3 EASY
God has been kind to me so that I can SERVE HIM.
Because of that, I say this to every one of you:
Do not think that you are better than you really are.
Instead, think about yourself carefully.
Decide how much God has helped you to trust him.
Then you will know how to serve him well.
ROMANS 12:4 EASY
Each part of our body works in a different way.
But all the parts belong to our one body.
Every part God created for a purpose
Christ is the Head
We allow ourselves to renew our minds
ROMANS 12:5 EASY
In the same way, we are many people,
but we all belong to Christ, like one body.
We also belong to each other,
like the different parts of one body belong to each other.
The spiritual gifts Paul lists in Romans 12 are:-
Prophesying
Ministering (or Serving, Helps)
Teaching
Exhorting (encouragement)
Giving
Leading
Showing mercy
God knows how best we will function glorifying Him
ROMANS 12:6-8 NKJV
“Having then gifts differing according to the GRACE that is GIVEN to us, let us USE them:
if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;
or ministry, let us USE it in our ministering;
he who teaches, in teaching;
he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality;
he who leads, with diligence;
he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.”
Do it with faith
All the gifts are not lecture people
Speaking from the heart, speak from the holy spirit
We prophesize not to change someone
Speak from our heart to the other person heart to let the holy spirit touch the person
Prophesy comes from our heart
Prophesy has to be spoken
Spiritual Gifts in Romans 12 -
1. PROPHESYING
ROMANS 12:6 NLT
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.
So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.
The Greek word for prophecy means to “speak forth.”
To prophesy simply means to speak out God’s Word, His heart, purposes, and truth with the intent of encouraging and influencing others to come into alignment with Him.
Align them to God's way
You will see the anointing
Use it to encourage others
Your motive is very important when you are moving in the spirit
God put everyone in one body
Too many is not God's perfect will
God’s heart, purposes, truth, and will are all reflected in His Word.
So speak His Word!
The more time you spend time reading God’s Word, the more it will read you, and you’ll be able to “read” situations and people with the mind of Christ, offering opportunities to speak life into another.
Memorize scripture and use it to encourage and direct others.

2. MINISTERING /SERVING
ROMANS 12:7 NLT
If your gift is serving others, serve them well...
The gift of ministering is also called serving or helping.
The Greek word for ministering is diakonian,
where we get the word deacon.
It is about serving others in practical ways and helping those in need.
Essentially, when you have this gift, it comes naturally to you to want to meet people's needs, and it's easy for you to play supporting roles in the church.
This gift is best described in Acts 6.
When the number of disciples was multiplying, the Hellenists complained that Hebrew widows were getting more provisions than the Hellenist's widows.
The apostles solved the problem by making this statement:
“Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said,
‘It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.
When the church grows in numbers, we will need more servers and helpers. Serving, practical you need a lot
They need to spend time to prepare to preach
Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.’” – Acts 6 : 2-3.

3. TEACHING
Teaching is the spiritual gift to clearly analyze, explain,
and proclaim the Word of God to others, leading them to discover and understand scriptural truths.
ROMANS 12:7 NLT
If you are a teacher, teach well.
The New Testament is filled with instances where leaders in the early church used this gift to guide and strengthen the early believers,
thus guiding them into teaching roles.
You will see what is earthly wisdom and what is truth and half truth
You want to guide and strengthen them, that is the motive of teaching
Be skilful and diligent, rightly divide the word of Truth
The Word of God that is living and alive
Guide others in the way of God
Teach them accurately in the things of God
Take the Apollos, Aquila, and Priscilla described in Acts 18, for example:
“Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.
This man had been INSTRUCTED in the WAY of the LORD;
and being fervent in spirit, he SPOKE and TAUGHT ACCURATELY the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.
“When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the WAY of GOD MORE ACCURATELY.
And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace; for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.” – Acts 18 : 24-28 (emphasis added)

4. EXHORTING
ROMANS 12:8 NLT
If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging.
If it is giving, give generously.
If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously.
And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Treasure the gift of God
ROMANS 12:8 CEB
If your gift is encouragement, devote yourself to encouraging.
The one giving should do it with no strings attached.
The leader should lead with passion.
The one showing mercy should be cheerful.
Don't pretend to be someone you are not
ROMANS 12:9-11 CEB
Love should be shown without pretending.
Hate evil, and hold on to what is good.
Love each other like the members of your family.
Be the best at showing honor to each other.
Don’t hesitate to be enthusiastic—be on fire in the Spirit
as you serve the Lord!
Generally everyone can love their own family members
The love of God is shared in my heart
ROMANS 12:11-12 EASY
Do not be lazy, but always work hard.
Serve the Lord well because you enjoy it.
Be happy, because you can trust God to do what he says.
Be patient when you have troubles.
Always continue to pray.
You can go second and third mile for your spiritual family
Speak from your heart and your spirit
Serving the Lord without joy is a curse
Be happy because you can trust God with what He said
The gift of exhortation builds people up by encouraging them to practice what they have been taught.
The danger of learning and not practicing the Word is deceiving ourselves and becoming puffed up with the knowledge that doesn't help or build up the Body of Christ.
James described this problem the best.
He said, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving yourselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself,
goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” – James 1 : 22-25

5. GIVING
ROMANS 12:13 EASY
If any of God's people need anything, then help them with what you have.
Always be happy to let people stay in your home.
Giving is a Spirit-given capacity to serve God by CHEERFULLY giving your material resources above tithes and offerings to further God's kingdom.
It is joyfully and cheerfully sharing what you have with others.
Givers often meet most of the financial needs of fellow Christians and churches even when their resources are meager.
They give generously, as Paul advises givers to do.
The Bible sets profound examples of this kind of giving.
For example:
“Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles' feet, and they distributed to each as anyone had need.” – Acts 4 : 34-35
“And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury,
and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.
So He said, ‘Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.’” – Luke 21 : 1-4

6. LEADING
You may hear this gift sometimes referred to as the gift of administration.
People with this gift provide leadership, showing people the right direction for everyone's benefit.
Paul encourages teachers to teach with diligence.
Paul is also a prime example of how this gift works.
He prompted other leaders to action and, through his letters, stirred many to follow the right direction.
We can also find nuggets about this gift from the book of
1 Peter 5: “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock…” - 1 Peter 5 : 2-3
ROMANS 12:14 EASY
Ask God to bless people who cause trouble for you.
Yes, ask him to be kind to them.
Do not ask him to do bad things to them.
ROMANS 12:15 EASY
If you are with someone who is happy,
you should also be happy.
If you are with someone who is sad,
you should also be sad.
ROMANS 12:16 EASY
Always try to agree and to be friends with each other.
Do not be proud.
Be friends with people who are not important.
Do not think that you know everything.
ROMANS 12:17 EASY
If someone has done bad things against you,
do not do bad things back to them.
Try to live in a good way so that people will respect you.
They will see that you do good things.
ROMANS 12:18 EASY
If it is possible, try always to be friends with other people.
ROMANS 12:19 EASY
My friends, if someone has done bad things to you,
do not try to punish them yourselves.
Instead, let God be angry and punish them.
This is what is written in the Bible: ‘The Lord God says,
“When people do something wrong, I am the one who will punish them.
I will pay them back.” ’
ROMANS 12:20 EASY
But the Bible also says this:
‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
If you help your enemy, he will become ashamed.
He will be sorry because of what he did to you.’
ROMANS 12:21 EASY
Do not let evil things win against you!
Instead, do good things.
Then you will win against the evil things that people do.
Spiritual Gifts in Romans 12 -
7. SHOWING MERCY
ROMANS 12:14-16 CEB
Bless people who harass you—bless and don’t curse them.
Be happy with those who are happy, and cry with those who are crying.
Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better than anyone else.
Instead, associate with people who have no status.
Don’t think that you’re so smart.
The gift of mercy enables people to GO BEYOND the compassion
the average person shows to someone in distress,
express deep compassion and benevolence, and is sometimes prompted
to do something about the situation.
Another way the gift of mercy operates is through a person enabled by the Spirit of God to show the mercy God has shown to us.
However, they don't excuse bad behavior but remind people that God forgives them.
Why Knowing Your Spiritual Gifts Is Important
When you identify gifts of the Spirit specifically accorded to you, it helps you in several ways.
First, it reveals God's plan and purpose for your life.
Secondly, you find out where you fit, which reduces the chances of burnout.
Thirdly, it helps build a sense of community in the church.
It's important to remember that your spiritual gifts are only strengthened WHEN you USE them.
The MORE you USE your gift, the MORE it GROWS.
Your spiritual gifts only strengthen when you use them
PSALMS 139:14 EASY
