REVIVAL AND RESTORATION OF FRUITFULNESS - [Sermon note]

Pastor Stephanie

To the Ancient Hebrew, a. REVIVAL from God was defined as being restored from physical or spiritual sickness to health, and to recover.

The word “revival” is from the Hebrew word chayah and means

“to bring back to LIFE,” to “restore to consciousness,” or "to restore to a previous condition".

Why people of God need revival?

PSALM 85:6 NKJV

Will You not REVIVE us again, That Your people may REJOICE in YOU?

There is a connection between reviving and rejoicing.

People rejoice in money and the material things of this world.

The real revival is when people rejoice in the Lord.

When people is revived, they bring back spiritual life.

It is God who gave us spiritual life so that we can live eternally.

Jesus came to give us life abundantly.

H2421 Revive

Original: חיה

Transliteration: CHÂYÂH

Phonetic: khaw-yaw'

to LIVE, have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously,

live for ever, be quickened, be alive,

be restored to LIFE or health

TO REVIVE

from sickness

from discouragement

from faintness

from death

to QUICKEN, REVIVE, REFRESH

to cause to GROW

Our joy and our life is in Him.

GENESIS 3:20 KJV

And Adam called his wife's name Eve;

because she was the mother of all living.

H2332 Eve

Original: חוּה

Transliteration: chavvâh

Phonetic: khav-vaw'

Eve = "life" or "living"

Strong's Definition: from H2331; lifegiver; Chavvah (or Eve),

the first woman:- Eve.

H2331

châvâh חוה

: to live; to declare or show

The name Chavah is a derivative of the Hebrew word chayah, meaning “living one.”

Chavah embodies both the essence of life itself and the creative ability to grant that life to others.

Chavah is not only the mother of life but also represents the experience and expression of life.

The question though still remains as to why Chavah wasn’t called Chayah?

What is the difference between these two names?

Religion is always praying for blessings and when there is no blessings, they feel miserable. But when there is blessings, they feel happy.

When looking at them in their Hebrew spelling, the difference in each name is one letter.

The name Chavah has a VAV which is numerically equal to six, and Chaya has the letter YUD which is numerically equal to 10.

The difference between these two number is four, the letter dalet.

Rabbi Ginsburgh teaches that if we add the letter dalet to the name Chavah, we get the word CHEDVAH, meaning “JOY.”

When we transform Chavah into Chayah, into “LIFE,” she can birth with JOY.

Chedvah is another Hebrew word meaning Joy.

The life that God gives is with joy.

No joy is actually a curse.

MARK 11:12-13 TPT

The next day, as he left Bethany, Jesus was feeling hungry.

He noticed a LEAFY fig tree in the distance, so he walked over to SEE if there was any FRUIT on it, but there was NONE—ONLY LEAVES (for it wasn’t yet the season for bearing figs).

MARK 11:14 TPT

Jesus SPOKE to the fig tree, saying,

“No one will ever eat fruit from you again!”

And the disciples overheard him.

MARK 11:20-21 TPT

In the morning, they passed by the fig tree that Jesus spoke to and it was completely withered from the roots up.

Peter remembered and said to him, “Teacher, look!

That’s the fig tree you cursed.

It’s now all shriveled up and dead.”

This particular tree draws Jesus’s attention because

it already has a full covering of LEAVES.

It’s an early bloomer.

Its foliage signals that it should have early figs.

With that expectation, Jesus inspects the tree.

He is immediately disappointed.

All leaves, no fruit.

All expectation, no satisfaction.

Fruits is meant as a blessing of God for mankind to sustain men.

In a shocking turn, Jesus curses the tree and makes it wither from the roots, never to yield fruit again.

We are taken aback; this seems stunningly out of character for Jesus, the child-welcomer, compassionate healer, and storm-calmer.

We have the Holy Spirit in us.

The church is the body of Christ.

The body of Christ is to represent what the Head (Jesus) wants us to do here on earth.

So why did Jesus curse the fig tree?

JEREMIAH 12:10-11 EASY

Many foreign leaders will come.

They will destroy the land where my people live.

It was a beautiful garden where I planted my people.

But enemies will make it become like a desert.

They will make it a dry and empty place, where nobody lives and NOTHING GROWS.

The whole land will be like a desert.

There will be nobody to take care of it.

God's intention was to have a garden.

EXODUS 23:16, 19-20 EASY

Eat the Feast of Harvest every year.

Offer to me the first crops that you bring from your fields.

At the end of each year, eat Feast of Final Harvest.

Do that when you have finished bringing in all of your crops from the fields.

EXODUS 23:16, 19-20 EASY

When you cut the first crops from your fields, bring the best food to the house of the Lord your God.

Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk. Look!

I will send an angel to lead you on your journey.

He will keep you safe.

He will take you to the place that I have prepared for you.

NEHEMIAH 10:35-37 EASY

We will also agree to bring the first crops from our land each year and the first fruits from our trees.

We will bring these to the Lord's temple.

We will also bring our firstborn sons, as well as the first babies that our cows, sheep and goats give birth to.

We will bring them to the priests who serve our God in the temple.

That is what God's Law teaches us to do.

NEHEMIAH 10:35-37 EASY

We will also bring the first of everything that is ready for us to eat.

That includes flour, fruit, wine, olive oil and other special offerings.

We will bring them all to the priests and they will store them in the rooms of the temple.

We will give tithes of the crops that grow on our land to the Levites.

They receive the tithes that belong to them in each of the towns where we work.

PSALM 1:1-2 EASY

If someone does not do what wicked people tell him to do,

if he does not join with sinners, if he does not meet with

those who laugh at God, God has blessed that person!

He is happy when he obeys the Law of the Lord.

He THINKS about God's Law during the DAY and at NIGHT.

PSALM 1:3 EASY

He will become LIKE a TREE that grows beside streams

of water.

It gives its FRUIT at the right season.

Its leaves do not fall off.

EVERYTHING THAT PERSON does will have a GOOD RESULT.

Who are we to go against the law of sowing and reaping that God has set?

Freedom from worry if we would to just follow what He says He is.

Throughout the Old Testament, Israel is described as GOD’S VINEYARD, TREE, or PLANTING.

The FIRSTFRUITS of the HARVEST belong to God, which helps conceptualize their relationship to God: as his own special planting, they must yield spiritual fruit as his covenant people.

Many wants to live but don't know how to live.

Devil come to kill our lives and steal away our joy.

When we have joy, we have the strength of the Lord.

What we have is eternal. We have Jesus and joy.

Whenever we feel heavy inside, we praise the Lord.

Let the Holy Spirit fill us with joy.

Laughter of joy is to remove the spirit of heaviness.

Devil shouldn't be able to possess a born again believer, but what he can do is to oppress the mind of the believer.

We are like tress planting.

Trees can grow and bear fruits to satisfy people.

Tithing is from a covenant relationship.

Today, we in Christ we can have this privilege to tithe.

A privilege to have this covenant relationship with God.

DEUTERONOMY 7:12-15 EASY

Listen to these rules and be careful to obey them.

If you do that, the Lord your God will be faithful to the covenant that he has made with you.

He promised your ancestors that he would do this.

He will love you and he will bless you.

He will give you many children so that you become a large nation.

He will cause your fields to give you plenty of food: grain, wine and olive oil.

Not all the children of Israel saw God physically.

We are God's children bought with the price of Jesus' blood.

Will He not take care of us?

DEUTERONOMY 7:12-15 EASY

He will cause your cows, sheep and goats to have many babies.

That is how he will bless you in the land that he promised your ancestors to give you.

God will bless you MORE than any other people on the earth.

All your people and all your animals will have children of their own.

The Lord will keep you safe from all kinds of disease.

Covenant that He made with Abraham.

Today, we can receive the blessings of Abraham.

Money will come but the blessing is to have God in our lives, to have Jesus free us from worries, bondages and fear.

God's Word as our wisdom.

Get the wisdom of God.

Wisdom of God will bring us prosperity in spirit, soul and body.

God's Word as our direction.

Israel’s FRUITFULNESS (literal or otherwise) is not the basis of their relationship with God, for it is GOD WHO GIVES FRUITFULNESS.

DEUTERONOMY 11:17 NKJV

lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you.

A lack of fruitfulness is a sign of God’s curse for their rebellion.

ISAIAH 27:6 NKJV

Those who come He shall cause to take root in Jacob;

ISRAEL shall BLOSSOM and BUD,

And FILL the face of the world with FRUIT.

ISAIAH 27:6 EASY

The TIME WILL COME when Jacob will grow well, like a strong plant in the ground.

Yes, Israel will make flowers and branches.

Their FRUIT will fill all the world.

HOSEA 9:10, 17 EASY

The Lord says, ‘When I first found Israel, they gave me PLEASURE.

It was as if I had found GRAPES in the WILDERNESS.

Your ancestors made me happy, like the FIRST FRUIT on a young FIG TREE.

But then they came to the god, Baal-Peor.

They began to worship that disgusting idol.

They became as disgusting as the idol that they loved so much.

My God will not accept them as his people, because they have not obeyed him.

They will have no home of their own.

They will have to live among different nations.

Several times the prophets describe God as inspecting Israel for “EARLY FIGS,” as a sign of SPIRITUAL FRUITFULNESS but he finds “no first-ripe fig that my soul desires.”

God delights in fruitfulness.

So in two exiles (Assyrian and Babylonian), God pours out the CURSE of BARRENNESS.

HOSEA 9:16 EASY

Ephraim's people are very sick.

They are like a plant that has dry roots and it gives no fruit..

Barrenness is a curse.

Both spiritually and physically barrenness is a curse.

Spiritual fruit - leading people to Jesus Christ

and Israel becomes a rotten fig.

JEREMIAH 29:17 EASY

The Lord Almighty says, ‘I will send war, famine and disease to hurt them.

They will be like bad figs that nobody can eat.

God has to punish in His righteousness.

JOEL 2:22-23 EASY

Do not be afraid, wild animals.

The fields in the wilderness are becoming green.

FRUIT is growing on the trees.

The FIG tree and the VINE are giving much FRUIT.

SHOUT with JOY, people in Zion!

Be very happy because of the things that the LORD YOUR GOD HAS DONE.

He has given you just enough autumn rain.

He has given you the winter rain, and the summer rain, as before.

AMOS 9:14 EASY

I will bring the people of Israel, my people, back to their own land.

Enemies destroyed their cities, but now my people will build

them again.

They will live safely in them.

My people will plant VINES.

They will drink WINE from their GRAPES.

They will eat the FRUIT from trees that they have planted in their gardens.

Bible already prophesied all these before it happened.

Eg: Bring the people of Israel back to their own land in 1948.

Whatever the Bible says, it will come to past and many has come to past.

The only hope is the hope in the Word of God for those who remain.

Go back to the Word of God.

GOD PROMISES to one day replant Israel and produce HEALTHY FIGS from her AGAIN.

The eschatological RESTORATION has arrived.

Everything is lining up.

Israel’s FRUIT will now be harvested;

blessing will now pour forth.

While the rest of the nations—the other fig trees—are not yet in season, this one tree is “in leaf.”

Except there’s no fruit.

The fig tree, once again, has failed.

The Passover celebration, the tumult, the crowds, the singing—

it’s all a show.

Jesus enters God’s house of prayer and finds it a “den of robbers”

(Mark 11:17).

Lots of action, lots of bustle, but no righteousness.

Leaves, but no fruit.

So upon inspecting the fruitless tree, Jesus pours out divine judgment via two sign-acts: the future-pointing act of cursing the temple, and the enacted metaphor of cursing the tree.

Our personal lives can look like “in leaf.”

Our leaves may look like those of a supermom, a winner, a perfect family, an A-team Christian with an overstuffed schedule of ministry activities.

But the root may be withered.

There may be no fruit of holiness and no intimacy with God.

What’s worse—our leaves may even fool us.

And our churches can do the same.

A church’s leaves may look impressive: booming attendance, capital campaigns, clever pastors, impressive music.

But what will the Lord find upon close inspection?

Will he find only leaves?

Or will he find figs, too?

Fruits of the spirit of our lives depends on our intimacy with the Lord.

AMOS 9:13-15 MSG

“Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree.

“Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels

of the other.

You won’t be able to keep up.

Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings!

Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills.

I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel:

“They’ll rebuild their ruined cities.

They’ll plant VINEYARDS and drink GOOD WINE.

They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables.

And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land.

They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them.” God, your God, says so.

If God is with us, who can be against us?

PSALM 126:1-3 EASY

When THE LORD TURNED US ROUND, so that we ENJOYED

a GOOD LIFE in Zion again, we thought that we were dreaming!

At that time, we LAUGHED a LOT.

We shouted because we were SO HAPPY!

People in other countries said to each other, ‘THE LORD HAS DONE GREAT THINGS for THEM!’

YES , the Lord has done great things for us.

SO WE ARE VERY HAPPY.

Joy does a lot of things.

PSALM 85:6 TPT

REVIVE us again, O God!

I know you WILL!

Give us a fresh start!

Then all your people will TASTE your JOY and GLADNESS.
