G1411

ACTS 2:1-2 CEB

When Pentecost Day arrived, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a SOUND from HEAVEN like the howling of a fierce WIND filled the entire house where they were sitting.

ACTS 2:3-4 CEB

They saw what seemed to be individual FLAMES of FIRE alighting on EACH one of them. They were ALL FILLED with the Holy Spirit and began to SPEAK in OTHER LANGUAGES as the SPIRIT enabled them to speak.

Other languages are the tongues.

The disciples speak in tongues.

ACTS 2:5-6 CEB

There were pious Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. When they heard this sound, a crowd gathered. They were mystified because everyone heard them speaking in their native languages.

ACTS 2:7-8 CEB

They were surprised and amazed, saying, “Look, aren’t all the people who are speaking Galileans, every one of them? How then can each of us hear them speaking in our native language?

ACTS 2:9-10 CEB

Parthians, Medes, and Elamites; as well as residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the regions of Libya bordering Cyrene; and visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism),

ACTS 2:11-12 CEB

Cretans and Arabs—we hear them DECLARING the MIGHTY WORKS of GOD in our own languages!” They were all surprised and bewildered. Some asked each other, “What does this mean?”

ACTS 2:13-14 CEB

Others jeered at them, saying, “They’re full of new wine!” Peter stood with the other eleven apostles. He raised his voice and declared, “Judeans and everyone living in Jerusalem! Know this! Listen carefully to my WORDS!

ACTS 2:15-16 CEB

These people aren’t drunk, as you suspect; after all, it’s only nine o’clock in the morning! Rather, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:

ACTS 2:17-18 CEB

“In the last days, God says,” “I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” “Your sons and daughters will prophesy.” “Your young will see visions.” “Your elders will dream dreams.” “Even upon my servants, men and women,” “I will pour out my Spirit in those days,” “and THEY WILL PROPHESY.”

H5012 prophesy

Original: נבא

Transliteration: nâbâ'

Phonetic: naw-baw'

BDB Definition:

to prophesy

To speak (or sing) by inspiration, under influence of divine spirit

They were filled with Holy Spirit and were speaking or singing in tongues; prophesying.

In that tongues, there is prophesy.

Speaking in tongues is a form of prophesy.

ACTS 3:19 TPT

And now you must repent and turn back to God SO THAT your sins will be removed, and SO THAT times of refreshing will stream from the Lord’s presence.

Repent is a change of mind; our thinking.

Now, we change our mind and thinking when we listen to the Gospel of God.

Not thinking so much about ourselves.

Change our mind on how we see God.

We begin to repent and change our thinking about God first.

Then, we turn back to God.

Our sins has been forgiven, cancelled and removed by Jesus on the cross.

God not counting our sins against us.

Able to enter into the wonderful presence of the Lord where he does not condemn us.

We were once sinners, deserving hell.

Through Jesus Christ, He has made us saved.

Saint means the holy and righteous one.

Today, we are a holy and righteous person because of Jesus.

He made us holy and righteous in our spirit.

Not because we are good and righteous by our own works but it is Jesus who made us good and righteous.

The Bible define good and righteous is the spirit first.

Righteousness of God in Christ.

Own righteousness and good behaviour cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

ISAIAH 28:11-12 KJV

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is THE REST wherewith ye may cause the weary to REST; and this is the REFRESHING: yet they would not hear.

Rest to come from the spirit.

We can rest in the spirit, rest in peace on this earth.

We will have a glorified body that will enjoy the presence of the Lord.

ISAIAH 28:11-12 CEV

So, the Lord will speak to his people in strange sounds and foreign languages. He promised you PERFECT PEACE and REST, but you refused to listen.

They were having perfect peace and rest when they are speaking in tongues.

1 CORINTHIANS 14:1-2 NKJV

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may PROPHESY. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but TO GOD, for no one understands him; however, IN THE SPIRIT he speaks mysteries. (SECRET TRUTHS and HIDDEN THINGS [not obvious to the understanding].)

(If you praise him in the PRIVATE LANGUAGE of TONGUES, God understands you but no one else does, for you are sharing INTIMACIES just between YOU and HIM. - MSG)

1 CORINTHIANS 14:4 MSG

The one who prays using a private “prayer language” certainly gets a lot out of it, but proclaiming God’s truth to the church in its common language brings the whole church into growth and strength. I want all of you to develop INTIMACIES with GOD in PRAYER, but please don’t stop with that. Go on and proclaim his clear truth to others.

1 CORINTHIANS 14:4 TPT

The one who speaks in tongues advances his OWN SPIRITUAL PROGRESS, while the one who prophesies builds up the church.

1 CORINTHIANS 14:15 NLT

Well then, what shall I do? I will pray IN THE SPIRIT, and I will also pray IN WORDS I UNDERSTAND. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand.

Singing in the spirit is singing in tongues, not in an unknown language.

In our worship, we can sing in understanding and sing in tongues.

1 CORINTHIANS 14:18 AMPC

I thank God that I speak in [strange] tongues (languages) MORE than ANY of YOU or ALL of you PUT TOGETHER;

ROMANS 8:26 TPT

And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the HOLY SPIRIT rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.

ROMANS 8:27 TPT

God, the searcher of the heart, knows fully our longings, yet he also understands the desires of the Spirit, because the HOLY SPIRIT passionately pleads before God for us, his holy ones, in PERFECT HARMONY with GOD’S plan and OUR destiny.

ROMANS 8:27 AMPC

And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit INTERCEDES and PLEADS [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with GOD'S WILL. [Ps. 139:1, 2.]

Harmony, peace, and rest will come in when we pray in tongues.

While there are some in Christendom and outside it who have outrighly rejected the gift of tongues, science has come out and proved that it is not some noise that crazy Christians make.

One study revealed that speaking in tongues results in a decrease in the stress hormone, cortisol, and thus results in a reduction in the levels of stress.

In a separate study of almost 1,000 male members of a British evangelical clergy, it was discovered that those who spoke in tongues were more stable emotionally and less anxious.

The more you speak in tongues, the more peaceful and less stressful you become. When you make speaking in tongues a daily habit, it will EMPOWER you to be one COOL, CALM and COLLECTED Christian.

It will rid you of stress, depression, anxiety and fear. It will cause you to always be at peace, even in times when circumstances in your life are stormy and turbulent.

Praying in Tongues:-

1. Activates REST in our spirit

2. Activates GIFTS of the Spirit

3. Activates our DESTINY in HARMONY with GOD'S WILL.

Holy Spirit knows all things and will use us to minister.

The perfect prayer is in the will of God.

Eg.

Electric kettle - purpose?

Fill with water..

Fill ourselves with God's Word (water).

Plug into the socket or power point..

SWITCH ON the POWER

WHAT comes out

SERVE THE LORD – AS HIS WITNESS and Minister of God (FLAME OF FIRE) with HOT WATER!

EPHESIANS 3:20 AMP

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], ACCORDING to HIS POWER that is at work WITHIN US,

1 THESSALONIANS 5:17 NKJV

... PRAY WITHOUT CEASING,..

SWITCH ON THE DUNAMIS POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU!!
